Richard is a specialist in Financial Markets, Financial Services Regulation, and Funds. He advises providers of financial products and services - including managed investment scheme managers, financial advice providers, and discretionary investment management service providers—on navigating New Zealand’s complex financial regulatory landscape.
Richard has extensive experience advising on licensing requirements under New Zealand’s financial laws, including NZX listing obligations. He is also highly regarded for his technical expertise in anti-money laundering compliance and the trans-Tasman mutual recognition scheme for fund offerings. His advice frequently covers the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 and the Financial Markets Conduct Regulations 2014.
Before joining the firm, Richard held roles at NZX (New Zealand’s Stock Exchange) and a top-tier New Zealand law firm, where he focused on financial services regulation.
