Claire is an accomplished employment law specialist with a distinguished background as a former prosecutor for the Auckland Crown Solicitor’s office. Her extensive experience in litigation includes serving as lead counsel in the Employment Relations Authority, District Court, and High Court.

Claire's dual expertise in representing both employers and employees allows her to navigate the complexities of employment law with a nuanced perspective. She offers comprehensive advice on a wide range of employment issues, including personal grievances, mediations, disciplinary and performance management matters, restructures, redundancies, restraints of trade, immigration issues, and document drafting and review. Notably, she has represented individuals before disciplinary decision-making bodies such as the New Zealand Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal.

Her experience extends beyond employment law to defense work in health and safety and criminal offenses, equipping her with a unique ability to address cases where employment issues intersect with such considerations.

Claire’s pragmatic and commercial approach to litigation is evidenced by her successful handling of various high-profile cases, including representing a regulated company on a strike-out application in the Employment Relations Authority and negotiating settlements in a multi-party dispute against a global corporation, and acting for a major health sector company on diverse employment issues.

Her strategic acumen and results-driven focus also makes her a trusted advisor to Human Resource Managers.

Claire is based in our Christchurch office.
