Ashleigh is a specialised public law, resource management and environmental lawyer.

She has a wide range of domestic and international experience, spanning roles in private practice, local government, and central government.

Ashleigh spent three years working for the Government Legal Department in the planning, infrastructure and environment team in London. In this role, she conducted a complex caseload of public law and planning litigation on behalf of the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Planning Inspectorate, and the Department for Transport.

She also worked at Auckland Council and later at Maritime New Zealand, providing advice on a variety of public law matters, including interpretation and implementation of legislation and international conventions, the exercise of statutory functions and powers, and drafting and amendment of legislative instruments.

Earlier in her career, Ashleigh worked at another leading law firm in New Zealand, providing resource management advice to property and land developers and large-scale infrastructure providers, and spent time seconded to the Environmental Defence Society.”
