Public Works Act

  • Property

The Government has announced an eight-week review of the Act, with a focus on ensuring the legislation is fit for purpose in realising the Crown’s ability to undertake public works, provides clarity for those landowners impacted and is efficient in its execution.

New legislation is intended to be introduced mid 2025 with the public’s opportunity to provide feedback during the subsequent select committee process.

Tavendale and Partners will be watching this space closely. Partner Richard Rodden specialises in the PWA and has previously assisted the Crown in acquiring land under the Act but now focuses on representing landowners affected by public works. We want to ensure that any reforms preserve a landowners’ fundamental rights to a fair process and fair compensation.

If you would like to discuss or your property is the subject of a PWA requirement, then please do not hesitate to get in contact with Richard.
